Site Reliability Engineer

About the job

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be responsible for establishing and delivering best practice across our product infrastructure to ensure high availability, strong performance, and robust security for Turners' digital platforms. You'll play a key role in improving the reliability, quality, and time to market of our product catalogue. Working closely with Product Engineering teams and our Infrastructure Services team, you'll help shape how our platforms are built, deployed, and operated as we continue to grow and innovate. 

What you’ll do

  • Maintain all systems and services required for our product catalogue, from the operating system up
  • Establish monitoring, logging, and metrics to ensure platform reliability, performance, and visibility
  • Build and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Write reusable infrastructure modules, guides, and documentation to support and enable product teams
  • Establish and maintain infrastructure delivery workflows through CI/CD pipelines
  • Review infrastructure as code written by product teams and fellow SREs
  • Champion security-first thinking and embed a strong security mindset throughout the SDLC
  • Advocate for governance and best-practice standards across product teams
  • Identify opportunities for automation, reliability improvements, and operational efficiencies

What you’ll bring

  • A proactive approach to identifying issues, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
  • A passion for modern infrastructure and reliability engineering best practices
  • The ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver work aligned to business objectives
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the confidence to tackle complex challenges
  • A solid security mindset, including experience or exposure to threat modelling
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams

Technical bits

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
  • Exposure to containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS / AKS / ECR)
  • 3+ years’ experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and infrastructure fundamentals
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)
