Sales Consultant
Turners Group NZ Ltd is part of the Turners Automotive Group and we’re proud to have been helping Kiwis buy and sell vehicles for over 50 years. Turners DVA is a key part of our Commercial business, specialising in the sale of damaged and salvage vehicles through auction and direct sales channels.
We’re looking for a driven Sales Consultant to join our DVA team in Christchurch, playing a hands‑on role in maximising vehicle sales and delivering outstanding service to our vendors and buyers.
Who would suit this role?
This role suits someone who enjoys a fast‑paced, hands‑on sales environment and has a strong mechanical understanding of vehicles. You’ll confidently build relationships, assess damaged vehicles, discuss value and sales options, and work proactively as part of a collaborative team.
What does the role entail?
- Maintain and grow the damaged vehicle business by building strong relationships with vendors, buyers and key customers
- Complete damaged vehicle valuations using sound mechanical judgement and market knowledge, and present stock on the yard and through auctions to achieve the best outcomes
- Sell vehicles through the most appropriate channels, including auctions, direct sales and online platforms
- Attract and engage buyers through proactive follow‑up, database use, Trade Me listings, and enquiry management
- Negotiate post‑sale outcomes and assist with off‑site or low‑value stock where required
- Support pre‑, during‑ and post‑auction activities, manage vehicle logistics, stock control and weekly stocktakes
- Assist with yard duties and forklift operations, provide general administrative support, and contribute to wider Commercial operations
- Work safely at all times and actively support Turners’ Health & Safety culture
What do we need from you?
- Previous experience in a sales‑driven or operational support role
- A strong mechanical sense, with the ability to assess damaged vehicles, repairs and overall condition
- Confidence communicating with customers in a commercial environment
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
- Results‑focused with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timeframes
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Full NZ driver licence and a forklift license is preferred
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
